What do the seven colours mean?

Preparing tika respectfully
- Use clean, skin-safe colours intended for ritual or cosmetic contact.
- Keep materials covered and use clean applicators.
- Ask about allergies or sensitive skin.
- Follow the order taught in your household rather than claiming one universal sequence.
Beyond the tika
The mandala, garlands, oil, walnuts, sweets, blessings and gifts form a wider ceremony. Brothers also honour sisters with gratitude and gifts, making the relationship reciprocal.
